IDEX (NYSE:IEX) Rallies on Q2 Earnings Beat and Raised Full-Year Outlook

IDEX CORP (NYSE:IEX) delivered a strong second-quarter performance that topped analyst expectations, driven by record orders and robust demand across its advantaged end markets. The engineered products company reported adjusted diluted earnings per share of $2.32 for the three months ended June 30, 2026, compared with the $2.13 consensus estimate, while net sales of $920.6 million came in slightly ahead of the $914.6 million analysts had projected.

Earnings Recap

IDEX’s second-quarter results reflected broad operational momentum. Revenue grew 6% year over year, lifted by a 5% increase in organic sales. The Health & Science Technologies segment was a standout, posting organic sales growth of 12% as AI-driven demand for data center power and semiconductor equipment fueled higher volumes. Adjusted EBITDA margin expanded 70 basis points to 28.1%, helped by volume leverage and positive price/cost dynamics.

Key financial highlights for the quarter:

  • Orders: $1.07 billion, up 29% year over year (organic orders +28%)
  • Reported net income: $143.4 million, or $1.93 per diluted share
  • Adjusted net income: $172.4 million, or $2.32 per diluted share
  • Free cash flow: $177.0 million, representing a 103% conversion rate

The results also benefited from $7.3 million in net IEEPA tariff refunds, which added $0.08 to adjusted EPS and lifted gross margin by 150 basis points.

Guidance Uplift

Management raised its full-year outlook, citing strong year-to-date performance and improved second-half visibility. The company now expects organic sales growth of 5% to 6% for fiscal 2026, up from the prior guidance of 3% to 4%. Full-year adjusted diluted EPS is projected in a range of $8.70 to $8.85, well above the previous $8.35 to $8.55 range. That forecast exceeds the analyst consensus estimate of roughly $8.58 per share, reinforcing confidence in the company’s earnings trajectory.

For the third quarter, IDEX guided organic sales growth of 5% to 7% and adjusted EPS of $2.20 to $2.25, compared with the analyst estimate of $2.22 per share.

Segment Highlights

  • Health & Science Technologies (HST): Revenue grew 14% (organic +12%), with adjusted EBITDA margin rising 270 bps to 28.7%. Strength in space, defense, and semiconductor markets offset the headwind from IEEPA customer rebates.
  • Fluid & Metering Technologies (FMT): Sales increased 2% (organic +1%). Growth in municipal water, semiconductor, and mining end markets was mostly offset by weakness in energy and agriculture. Adjusted EBITDA margin contracted slightly to 34.8%.
  • Fire & Safety/Diversified Products (FSDP): Sales declined 1% (organic -1%) on lower European rescue demand, partially offset by gains in the BAND-IT business. Adjusted EBITDA margin eased to 28.9%.

Market Reaction

Pre-market trading suggests investors are rewarding the beat and the upgraded guidance, with shares up approximately 3.5% in early action. The combination of record orders, raised full-year expectations, and strong free cash flow generation points to sustained operational health even as tariff-related distortions normalize.
